Spice jet is a cheap air carrier in the domestic Indian market which based in Delhi. Its hub airport is the IGI Airport in New Delhi. Established in 2005, it was the second largest domestic low cost air carrier in India in terms of the market share occupied. The airline was promoted by MR. Sanjay Malhotra and the Kasangra family. It started operations with bizarre pricing of tickets at Rs.99. Spice jet was initially known as royal airways. The carrier has adopted various innovative techniques as a part of its cost cutting measures. For example it does allow its passengers to carry a load of more than 20 kg onboard.

Spicejet Airlines has chosen a single type of aircraft the Boeing 737-900ER so as to improve the efficiency of its operations and increase the frequency of its flights. Currently, spice jet has flights to about 18 destinations across the country. A part of the airline is also owned by the billionaire Wilbur Ross. It has a fleet of 19 Boeing aircrafts and 10 are pending for delivery. It has flights operating to tier2 cities like Ahemadabad, Jaipur, Guwahati, Goa and other cities.
